The Moose River is a class IV-V waterfall section widely regarded as a New York classic run. There are 20 scheduled releases a year which allow boaters to run the second half of the "bottom" section of river (from Agers Falls to Crystal). The first 4 rapids (Fowlerville - Double Drop) are always running regardless of scheduled releases.
During Fall Moose Fest (weekend after Columbus day every October) the river gets an extra approx 500cfs of flow through the Singing Waters, Middle, and Lower sections as well as through the classic release section.
